Seeing Jacob in the DLC broke my heart. Ever since Syndicate, I’ve felt close to Jacob, mainly because of our similar personalities. When I figured out he had to have lived a long life with Evie I was ecstatic, thinking that he’d have been himself even in old age, constantly telling stories of what he and Evie had done in their youth, cracking jokes, and training Lydia the way he wanted to be trained. But just by watching him talk in the first minutes, you could tell he wasn’t himself. I think the whole situation with Jack really took a toll on him, with all the people Jack killed and the fact Jacob helped him learn how to do it. Not to mention the month of phsyical and mental torture while he was captured. I have this feeling that he had to live with that, and it changed him for good.
Just thinking about it makes me really sad.
